Salary Range: $170-180k plus 20% bonus potential

Position Overview: The Transportation Director will ensure safe, legal, and on-time delivery of freight to member stores throughout assigned territory. The Transportation Director has full responsibility for the direction and oversight of all transportation-related functions at his / her assigned territory and associated transportation hubs.

1. Responsible for the direction and coordination of route drivers to ensure maximum performance
relative to product delivery, service, and good customer relations.
2. Ensure customer complaints are investigated and resolved related to in-store service and
delivery.
3. Ensure full compliance with all company quality assurance standards.
4. Ensure compliance of all company policies, DOT, OSHA, and all other regulatory agencies.
5. Monitors Driver performance weekly through Motive and Ortec. Counsels Drivers on
performance issues and areas for improvement.
6. Develops annual cost savings initiatives that are aligned with company's strategic plan.
7. Manage the department’s annual operating budget and assist in cost analysis.
8. Effectively schedules, supervises, and directs transportation personnel.
9. Manage fleet utilization, tracking the status of vehicles/equipment, monitoring equipment on Out of
Service report and holding all equipment service providers accountable for repairs identified
within DVIR’s and PM’s.
10. Ensures compliance with DOT hours of service by giving immediate feedback and taking
corrective action when they become aware of HOS issues. Supervisors will utilize the NDCP
standard disciplinary action outlined by the driver’s expectations that corresponds to the risk of
the violation.
11. Works with the Safety Manager on proper safe driving techniques while using Motive AI
Camera system to identify risky behaviors, proper lifting, and training in all required DOT
regulations.
12. Creates a team-oriented environment by developing employees, conducting performance
appraisals, and communicating updates to process, procedures and policies.
13. Ensures that personnel understand and implement safety and regulatory policies and
procedures.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
• BS/BA preferred
• 7 + years of multi-state transportation management experience in the food distribution industry
• Demonstrated mastery of the Federal Motor Carrier Rules and Regulations
• Knowledgeable of related OSHA standards and regulations
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word and Excel
• SAP experience preferred
• On Board Computer System Experience required, Motive preferred
• Prior experience with routing software, Ortec preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities required
• Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills required
• Willing and able to work flexible / extended work schedules, as needed
Physical Demands
• Ability to perform work at a desk or sit/stand workstation for extended periods of time
• Ability to operate a computer keyboard and to view a computer screen for extended periods
of time
• Ability to interact with employees and/or customers in the Distribution Center or customer locations
• Ability to travel to customer locations, other Distribution Centers, Corporate Office, etc. as
needed
• Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds
