Overview

The incumbent provides Human Resources support to the Distribution Center management team and employees, under the guidance of the Director, Human Resources.  Supports employees and supervisors on site and acts as “first respondent” to employee issues, including but not limited to benefits, timekeeping, payroll, and general policy/procedures questions and escalates complex issues to the appropriate HR team member.  This key member of the HR team also provides administrative and project support to the corporate Human Resources team and will be involved in HR department initiatives that support the company’s overall performance goals.  Responsible for confidential and time-sensitive materials, hence, requires a person of the highest professional ethics and integrity.  Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. 

 

Location: Groveland, FL

Schedule: Monday thru Friday

Hours: Day hours with flexibility for business operations

Responsibilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Partner with DC Operations Management Team to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  2. Share in responsibility for maintaining morale through open lines of communication and policy interpretation
  3. Perform DC HR functions, such as employee relations, new hire orientation, hourly compensation administration, maintaining HRIS database integrity, payroll, and benefits.
  4. Work with management team to properly onboard new employee.
  5. Assess the urgency and importance of situations and takes the appropriate action.
  6. Provide support to Recruiting by screening resumes, contacting candidates, and coordinating interviews.
  7. Organize, schedule and execute new hire and benefit orientation for all new employees, process required paperwork, and submit to the Payroll and Benefits team in a timely manner.
  8. Verify I-9 documentation and ensure accuracy of I-9 records.
  9. Ensure all policy sign-offs are completed and filed per company guidelines.
  10. Work independently and within a team on special and ongoing projects.
  11. Organize and prioritize competing tasks and calls.
  12. Handle confidential and non-routine information discreetly and professionally.
  13. Respond to unemployment claims. 
  1. Assist with ensuring quarterly drug screens are completed on time.
  2. Maintain records of employee security badges.
  3. Other duties as assigned.

 

Supervision Exercised

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Associate Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Business Management, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  2. 3 – 5 years of Human Resources experience
  3. Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  4. Position requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
  5. Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio
  7. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  8. Knowledge and understanding of benefit administration and common practices
  9. Familiarity with COBRA, ERISA, FMLA, ADA, and other employment state, federal, and local regulations preferred
  10. Familiarity with payroll/HRIS systems. ADP experience is preferred

 

Other Requirements

Some domestic travel required- (air, car)

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard and to view a computer screen for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds
  • Ability to work in a mixed environment of office and Warehouse Operations, exposure to a variety of temperatures on occasion within the Distribution Center.
